Kathleen Adams

Kathleen Adams is a Practice Management and Compliance consultant for the Firm. She founded MD Practice Partner in 2004. Today, as President, she continues to directly engage in shaping the strategic vision for the firm leading its growth, serving clients and maintaining a hands-on approach to daily operations. An industry thought leader and change agent for more than 25 years, Kathleen has led practices in a variety of healthcare specialties including cardiology, gastroenterology, and neurosurgery. For the past 13 years, she has worked almost exclusively with dermatology and plastic surgery practices, launching start-up locations and providing support and direction as practices grow. Kathleen’s ability to connect with both staff and leadership offers a unique opportunity during stressful times of change management during phases of growth or following merger and acquisitions.

R. Bruce Crelin, Esquire

Bruce Crelin serves as Of Counsel with The Nan Gallagher Law Group. He and Ms. Gallagher have worked together for years collaborating on sophisticated healthcare litigations and adminstrative actions and zealously fighting in support of physicians’ rights.

Bruce’s practice largely consists of complex commercial litigations before both state and federal courts, at the trial and appellate levels, and federal and state administrative agencies. He also counsels healthcare professionals on legal compliance, regulatory and business matters. From 1999 to 2005 and from 2006 until the firm ceased operations, he practiced healthcare law with the firm of Kern Augustine Conroy & Schoppmann, P.C., later known as Kern Augustine, P.C., having been made a partner in the firm in 2006. Bruce holds a Juris Doctor degree from The National Law Center, The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, cum laude, from Rutgers College, Rutgers University, where he was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Bruce is a member of the Bars of the State of New Jersey, the District of Columbia, the State of New York, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits, the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York, and the United States Tax Court. He served as a member of the District XIII (Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Vicinages) Attorney Ethics Committee from 2009 –2013.

Jessica Ellis-Wilson, CMPE

Jessica Ellis-Wilson, CMPE is a Practice Management and Compliance consultant for the Firm. She is an accomplished consultant, speaker, and coach with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and nonprofit spaces. Board-Certified through the American College of Medical Practice Executives, Jessica is a Past President of MA/RI Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), and is the founder and principal of the consulting firm Practical Management. A former executive leader, Jessica has worked with community health centers, private practices, academic medical centers, public health agencies, and concierge groups, and now devotes her time to helping private practices succeed and speaking across the country on a variety of healthcare and leadership topics. She also organizes Board/Executive retreats and offers leadership consulting in such fields as executive coaching, organizational transformation, and cultural sensitivity.

Jessica is involved with every facet of practice management and offers counseling and education to medical practices on compliance, Human Resources, employment issues and disputes, staff structuring and training, and diversity/equity/inclusion. She also works collaboratively with Ms. Gallagher to envision and create medical practices from the ground up, promoting compliance, and educating staff to avoid future risks and to promote a healthy and productive work environment. The two women are regularly invited to speak nationally on these subjects and are often touted for their avant-garde, bold, and informative presentations.

Len Garza, Esquire

Len Garza serves as Special Counsel to the Firm and co-chairs the Litigation and Transactional Divisions. He and Ms. Gallagher have maintained a longstanding professional relationship since their days engaging in sophisticated medical malpractice defense of physicians and provide a collaborative approach toward the client experience. In addition to litigation, Len has extensive experience representing medical practices, healthcare entities, companies, business owners, and other stakeholders offering a wide variety of complex business and corporate services including entity formation, corporate governance, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, real estate transactions, sales, 501(c)(3) compliance and counseling, and more. Len routinely represents the firm’s clients in a broad range of commercial transactions, including the review, draft, and negotiation of a vast array of business agreements including those with shareholders, vendors, clients, partners, employees, and associates.

Len also counsels clients on estate planning matters, including the formation of trusts, wills and other structures, all designed to transfer assets to heirs and to charities in a tax-efficient manner that achieves the goals and respects the values of our clients.

Len serves as a Volunteer Advocacy Ambassador for Autism Speaks and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Enable, Inc., a non-profit provider of services, resources, and support for adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in Central New Jersey.

Len is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is admitted to all federal courts in the major metropolitan areas of those jurisdictions.

Todd Gieger

Todd Gieger is the Firm’s go-to guru for Collections services for physicians. After graduating from Seton Hall University, he worked for GMAC to handle potential loss files. Three years later, he went to work with a commercial collections firm as a sales manager climbing the ranks until later being promoted to VP of Sales. Shortly thereafter, he started his own collections firm that later was acquired. He has consulted for several major collection law firms over the years. Todd is nationally recognized amongst his peers for his outstanding work, achievements and is regularly invited to lecture locally and nationally. Most poignantly, as a licensed and bonded Private Investigator through the NJ State Police, Todd brings an enhanced dynamic to locating debtors and assets to pay debts before litigation is commenced.

William G. Melchior, Jr., COO

William Melchior is the Firm’s Chief Operating Officer. He prides himself on creating and fostering long-term client relationships and goodwill. He interfaces regularly with clientele and manages all aspects of the Firm’s marketing presence and persona, including all publications and promotions.

Previously, Bill served as the Marketing Manager for a boutique healthcare law firm in Bridgewater, NJ, where he was responsible for managing all marketing efforts, under direct supervision from the Managing Partner. He was also responsible for client retention as well as client recruitment through a variety of channels. Bill supervised the complete design makeover of all firm marketing materials with assistance from the firm’s graphic designer and launched a robust social media effort via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google Plus. He served as the firm’s primary contact for medical societies throughout New Jersey and New York and managed the firm’s marketing presence at state, county, and specialty Society meetings/conventions.

Bill has served within Marketing Departments in different capacities for law firms of all different sizes in New Jersey as well as Washington, DC. He managed website content featuring attorney bios, recent headlines, news & events, and representative clients. He also has coordinated, from start to finish, practice group seminars and firm-wide “meet & greets” for business development.

In Washington, DC, Bill spearheaded a new print advertising campaign to focus on specific practice groups such as Employment & Labor and Creditors’ Rights. He collaborated with the Chief Operating Officer on all aspects of marketing, communications, and public relations for the firm. He edited and managed the distribution of Commercial Lending and Land Use & Zoning practice group newsletters, which were disseminated to current and prospective clients. In addition, Bill served as the firm’s point person for all media inquiries and advertising opportunities including The Washington Post.

Bill also has extensive experience working within the professional sports industry at a regional sports television network (CSN-Mid-Atlantic), Major League Baseball, and also working with the Baltimore Orioles as well as the Cleveland Indians.

Raymond Posa, MBA

Ray Posa is a HIPAA Compliance consultant with the Firm offering all aspects of federally and state-required HIPAA compliance services including privacy and security manuals, IT assessments, risk analyses, forms, training, breach and disclosure intervention, lecturing, and prospective interfacing on compliance issues. Ray is the President and Founder of The Manta Group, a HIPAA and Technology consulting firm based in Farmingdale, NJ. After receiving a BS in Airport Management and a MBA in Information Systems, Ray spent several years as a database programmer and project manager for several military projects. It was this background that helped hone a unique skill set of analyzing the operations of small companies and medical practices and applying appropriate technological solutions.

Professionalism, dedication, and attention to detail are some of the traits that have made Ray a preeminent leader in his field. He establishes long-term relationships the Firm’s clients and helps them evolve as the technologies evolve. With an extensive background in computer security from the military, Ray has emerged as a HIPAA expert and educates medical practices as to how to leverage the requirements of HIPAA into improved office efficiency and security.

Ray and Ms. Gallagher are frequently invited before large groups of physicians and medical practices to offer regulatorily-mandated HIPAA annual training in addition to the regulatorily-mandated OSHA training that Ms. Gallagher presents.

Nick Yanakas

Nick is a real estate specialist who caters to buyers and tenants in the healthcare sphere. Born and raised in northern New Jersey, he began his career working with healthcare providers at Henry Schein as a Territory Manager, helping dentists with their supply and equipment needs. After a few years there, he made the transition over to CARR where he works with practitioners across the healthcare spectrum as a tenant and buyer agent taking clients through a systematic and comprehensive process to ensure they select the right property for their needs and receive the best terms the market will bear. He also assists the firm’s clientele in saving money typically left on the table in lease renewals. In his spare time, Nick enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and golfing. Blair R. Zwillman, Esquire

Blair R. Zwillman co-chairs the Firm’s Criminal and White Collar Crime Divisions and has over 40 years of experience with the criminal justice system. After serving as a Law Clerk to Superior Court Judge Joseph M. Thuring in Hudson County, he became a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Criminal Justice, a section of the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, where he prosecuted cases. In 1979, Blair left state service and began the private practice of criminal law, with his primary goal to assist and defend those charged with crime.

Blair is well regarded by his peers and is a frequent contributor to legal publications. He has successfully defended those charged with both white collar crimes and all other crimes. His practice includes federal court matters nationwide, New Jersey state matters, public agency cases, and municipal case matters.

Blair has successfully defended all types of federal cases, including drug crimes, tax fraud and evasion, white collar crimes, such as fraud and embezzlement, criminal conspiracy, extortion, and sexually related cases. In state court, Blair handles cases including, but not limited to, murder, assault and other violent crimes, robbery, theft, fraud, bribery and forgery, drugs and weapons charges, possession of child pornography, and expungement petitions for those seeking to remove prior convictions. Blair also handles licensing issues for doctors, dentists, and other professionals before state licensing boards. He regularly collaborates with Ms. Gallagher on Qui Tams, defense of healthcare fraud and improper coding claims, and on legally structuring medical practices and lease agreements to avoid scrutiny from state and federal authorities for Stark & AntiKickback violations.
